Boys and Girls Club of Oxford

Today Miriam Taylor, Layton Davis, Buddy Farris and I, James Hall, went with Patsy Englehard, owner of Knit 1 Oxford, to check out the Boys and Girls Club's facilities to see where and what we will be yarn bombing April 11th. We have a pretty good idea of what to expect and how to approach it, but we need volunteers. There will be about 115 kids there April 11th, and we need more people on our team in order to get them all involved. We are going to drop off supplies a few days before for them to make God's Eyes and other yarn wrap items to hang from the trees on the day of the event, April 11th. If anyone wants to volunteer to do any of the preliminary work for that, gluing Popsicle sticks together etc., or would like to help on the 11th, leave a comment or e-mail me, jameschall4@gmail.com. We could also use any old sweaters anyone wants to donate, or twisty ties.

There will be a group meeting to bomb the light poles in front of Knit 1 Oxford this Sunday, the 3rd at 3:30pm. Come see what we're talking about.

One more thing, we need some more music talent for the April 28th Elements of Oxford Festival. Drop any suggestions or requests in the comments box.

Yarn Bombing

Here are some pictures and links to videos of examples of yarn bombing...
This bike is displayed outside of Knit 1 Oxford everyday. Check it out around the corner from University Sporting Goods on 13th Street.

Getting the ball rolling

Our first project is coming up. AspectOriginal and Knit 1 Oxford are yarn bombing the Boys and Girls Club of Oxford April 11th. We're gonna be wrapping trees, fences and poles around their facilities. There is a fundraiser tomorrow, March 30th, at the club, and such to help with costs for the organization and upcoming projects. AspectO will be there to help support and do some scouting for the yarn bomb project. It would be awesome to see some students there and any ideas for the April 11th project would be welcome and appreciated.

Other news, we have reserved the Union Pavilion April 28th for the "Elements of Oxford Festival". So far we have some of the guys from Bad Lieutenants playing and a number of others we're waiting to hear back from for music. Tables will be set up for local companies and organizations like our good friends at Knit 1 Oxford, and the Main Squeeze. I'm hoping to get in touch with others like Yokna Bottom Farms, Amelia's crafts store, Gone Fishing pet shop, and more. There will be crafts tables and product samples from all the stores, shops and restaurants. I'm really looking forward to the event. Should be fun. I'll post updates so check back.
